So I mentioned the woocard over here very briefly, so I thought I would start another thread about it here.
Here is what the WooCard is according to their site.
a unique opportunity exclusively for college students to experience Worcester’s charged cultural scene! Take advantage of the latest discounts for music and dance, concerts, poetry slams, and more... ALL FOR FREE!Check out Worcester’s vibrant theater, edgy galleries, music and dance concerts, unique museums, festivals, outdoor adventures and... a lot more with your WOO card!
Since I have never been to college, at least not to be educated, I have no idea what is expected of a college experience. I have my own crazy ideas, but it's all really just conjecture. I feel this WooCard thing is a interesting idea and a valiant effort on the part of the city to engage with the colleges. I looked at the calendar of events however, and it is not really what I picture when I picture a great college experience.
I am curious what you guys think about this WooCard campaign and how it could be improved or if there is room for something totally different in terms of marketing to the colleges. The general feel of what is currently being presented to colleges is very milk toast. I picture people in college wanting edgier things and to experience something that they at least think their parents wouldn't approve of.
your thoughts?
Re: woocard - discuss
I think looking at the calendar for this time of year probably isn't going to give you a great picture of what's available for college students in the city since school pretty much ended several weeks ago. Hopefully they'll be able to ramp it up for next semester, it's definitely something I would have used when I was at Clark, even if it was just to get into stuff as a requirement for some of my journalism or art classes. I think this could have huge potential for some of the establishments in the city, particularly if transportation is provided by the schools.
Re: woocard - discuss
Who knows? I think it is great idea, maybe the execution could be a little better? Maybe whoever the organizer is could do more research to really find the pulse of what is available in Worcester for college aged folk? Restaurant discounts would be a nice thing to offer with the Woo card.
