Yeah, that's kinda old news about the C's. I was pissed off when I heard about it. Here's how I understand it: Pierce had a falling out with Larry Brown (?) during the run up to the team's final selection. Pierce left/was not called back. When L. Brown was replaced, Pierce was already out of the loop. Garnett and Allen had already played in the Olympics and they were looking to change things up. Garnett and/or Allen could easily fit on to the current team, but what can ya' do?
Team USA has a tough row to hoe this year, and I'm praying that all of the games are broadcast live at reasonable hours. Winning will be a bit of a vindication after that abortion we threw out on the court 4 years ago.

all the prominent players on the celtics are on the back end of their careers... and the ones that arent... simply arent good enough to take part in the olympics.
peirce allen and garnett have a lot of miles on them. you dont want them risking getting hurt out there for that.
now if your talking rondo or perkins i say definitely... but still, neither stack up high enough.

Still, it's a bonus to have as many of your "favorite" players as possible on the USA squad. Pretty hard to complain when Kobe and LeBron are gonna be on the same team.

I was not an "early adopter" when it came to Rondo. The team sucked and I figured we needed to find a top-scorer at PG to help. Of course, there aren't Iverson's just lying around to pick up, but I was disappointed with Rondo from the beginning. Obviously, his game has improved by leaps and bounds. His "do everything" stat-line is fine with me nowadays, even if he only gets 8 points on any given night. He makes some ballsy passes (not always perfect, but who is) and seems to enjoy getting knocked around fighting for the ball. Don't know about Team USA, but I hope he's a Celtic for a long time to come.

I dont even think basketball should be allowed in the olympics.. it's more of an american sport.. we are always trying to jam our ways down other country's throats.. the same way Lebron James is going to slam dunk over some chinese dude.
