had a couple friends over watching the Celts the other night and luckily we didnt lose power, and honestly, besides my dog freaking out and being a wimp about the thunder, didnt think it was a big deal... the next morning on my way to work, holy shit, trees down everywhere, streets blocked.. dude!

Re: What a storm huh?

crazy.
It started raining a little bit so i ran out of work to check my car window and got caught in the storm.
I nearly got blown over running back to the restaurant, I had to turn my back against the wind while getting hit by walls of water. My boss says I had 10 gallons of water soaked into my clothes! My customers thought the whole thing was pretty funny.
Fifteen minutes later the storm was over and I was still soaking wet but at least my car seats were dry!

Re: What a storm huh?

I thought I was gonna go down Wizard of Oz style...

I live up off Plantation street near route 9, and we had microbursts. I live on the third floor with about 15 huge windows in my place. I hear a news report that the storm is coming through Greenfield and shoud hit Worcester in 20 minues. It took 10 minutes for it to sink in how fast that was so I went to batten down the hatches. I had just gotten all the windows closed up, and cats locked into pantry when everything outside went sideways. I stood in my kitchen (where the two biggest windows are) near the pantry with 9 and 1 dialed on my phone and my finger on the second 1. It lasted less than a cigarette, but it was scary. A friend a few streets over saw cinder blocks circling in his yard....trees down EVERYwhere. Im a litttle ticked off that there was no warning at all for it. the Fox Weather guy was so calm....I had the radio on, no weather advisory.....but this isnt the palce to complain.

We had the weather channel on at the time. there was a red banner warning at the bottom of the screen saying " immediately seek shelter in a sturdy structure"

I was at work and an alarm went off in the building, so I went to shut it off, thinking it was strange that an alarm would go off at this time of night when there is hardly anyone in the building. As I was walking to shut it off one of the outside doors opens and shuts behind me as I walk by it, so now I am a little spooked. I shut the alarm off and go back to check out if there is anyone out in the parking lot who shouldn't be and outside is just total chaos. Shit blowing around all over the place. Lightening everywhere. Pretty awesome really. As awesome as it was though I thought it was probably better to go back inside. When I got back to my desk I looked it up on weather.com and saw all the seek shelter and stay away from windows stuff.

The next morning coming home, I drove down Plantation near the park and Dino's and it was just nuts, trees down everywhere.

When did all this happen? It must not have hit up in Rochdale, or else I slept through a hell of a storm.

That's why I asked you how your condo was. Supposedly your area got hit the worst.

I'm pretty sure this tree fell on Newton Hill during that storm. I just guess-timated it at more than 90 feet tall.

Re: What a storm huh?

On my way to work two days ago I noticed a huge maple tree down, right next to a modest one floor home. It for the most part missed the house.

When I left work that same day, ANOTHER tree, at least 1.5 times its size fell to the OTHER side of the house. THis tree being so big that the root-footprint was as tall as the actual house...and went from behind the house to into the road, that with at least 100+ feet of frontage. This tree took out a fence and part of the house's roof. Could have been much worse.

The second tree, belonging to the property of a business that shared the fence, is still sitting there.
