There was definitely some weirdness going on. But it wasn't just the Boston contest that had the rules/voting/whatever changed mid-stream. There were simultaneous contests going on in 5 different markets, and they ALL changed in the exact same fashion. So WFNX clearly had nothing to do with this. In fact, they had very little to do with the contest at all, once the 15 finalists had been picked.

Chris, the reason you lose all the time is that no one knows where the name Craig came from. I'll shed some light on it for everyone.

The name Craig was chosen in recognition of a starving Canadian toddler that Chris rescued from the jaws of a ferocious baby seal. Chris heroically stole the menacing doe-eyed seal's baby-specific cudgel and smashed that 3 week old seal's head in with it. No doubt, that same club was used to slaughter scores of flannelled French-Canadian child prodigies.

First of all, cool to read that there are a lot of people out there thinking about stuff. All bands are somebodies, somebody somewhere knows who you are and appreciates what you do—busting your ass so you can do it too- No one creating should be down on himself. Hmmm. If a radio station wants to promote a contest and get a lot of free publicity doing that, they should try to be fair to the hopeful musicians all of whom pulled out all the stops for this one. It wasn’t “Just fun to submit,” as one of you wrote. I mean come on! This ain’t just applause and a photo on stage at the Paradise, it’s a friggin’ deal with Capital Records!? And the host station should prove that they are worthy of the thousands—thousands of people, potential fans who went to the pages to vote. The radio station should check how the contest is being run. So sure “if you have solid product you can win,” if the contest is run fairly and I say “Rock on” to all 700 bands who threw their hats into the dreampot in the first place. Better Luck next time.

Wasn't the contest supposed to be that the top 3 would be finalists and the winner was chosen by Coldplay? So, you could potentially win so long as you placed in the top 3 regardless of having the most votes? This was my understanding.

I understand being sore about not winning, but geez.... I doubt seriously that the masons were behind this contest... still, where's my tinfoil hat?

But I hope that you realize now that you're somebody. You are a person of substance. Your band, too, has value.

No "Hornresounding" it wasn't the same person. And now I am yet another. The one concerned about the contest is a teacher. BTW-she doesn't even listen to rock music. Her students told her the contest was sketchy. She wanted to inspire people to think. Maybe some did. Seems to me she got more snipes, self-righteous defense and a dash of offense.
