For the last three months The Music Intelligence Institute, along with eMusic, has sifted through hundreds of contributed questions from the finest minds in the music industry—musicians, critics and industry insiders. Locked in a darkened room with nothing more than an uncompromising attitude and a fully-loaded iPod, they have picked the very best of these probing queries into the musical arts. Their final selection has now become the basis for a new standard: The Music Intelligence Quiz.
The quiz covers a range of genres and eras and has been designed to evaluate everyone from the casual listener to the hippest music expert. Some of you will discover that years of carefully building your music collection have paid off and will feel the warm glow that comes from proving you know more about music than just about anyone else you know. Others will find that they have reached a musical midlife crisis and it's time to take action. Whatever your score, we hope you enjoy the ride.

Your music collection represents who you are and what you care about and your home may even bear the tell-tale signs of your affections – posters, old band t-shirts and the odd music biography. But you aren't a completist, you know what you like and make sure you have it. Simple as that. To expand your repertoire, perhaps there are some genres that you'd benefit from giving a little more attention to – perhaps now is the time to hear something new or get hold of that missing album from your collection.

Music, you believe, isn't so much about knowledge as it is about feeling. Sure, someone might be able to rattle off the recording dates for every Johnny Cash Sun session – so what? That's just academic. Music is your soundtrack to everything: your drive home from work, morning jog and Sunday lunch.
