StART Craft Fair on Sunday

Anybody go to the fair?

I brought my boys down and we had some fun. Though not as ambient as Union Station, the DCU convention hall provided ample space for the huge number of vendors. I would guess that at least 1,000 people were in attendance when I got there, though it thinned out within an hour.

Area parking was a shocking $20, because the Pops were playing in the arena. I parked by the old court house for free.

Great event, Tina.

Comments, anyone?

I parked for free as well.

I hope nobody paid $20 to park and only went to the craft show. I know the Telegram article today mentioned that the high parking charges may have led to smaller than expected crowds.

My g/f and got there at about noon. The crowd was fairly thin with plenty of room to get up close to all the booths, a better "purchasing" experience then the crowds that you have to fight at START.

All in all we spent about $80.00, I made off with a t-shirt and an art print and she made off with some notecards and some body scrub. We also picked up two terrific smelling homemade candles, one which we burned in the house and the other which will be my Secret Santa gift at work next week.

Two thumbs up from my perspective.

I had a good time selling my wares.  All and all, it was a good day for me.  sold some originals and prints along with my tshirsts.

I wouldn't want people to think that it was just craft though.  There were a number of Fine Artists there that day.

Sorry about missing that distinction. You art is definitely fine, as was the work of many others.

We dropped some money, too, all of which I felt was as well spent as it could be - to local artists. I came away with several gifts: a handbag, a handmade basket, some comics, and some knick-knacky stuff.

Great job stART crew...

Mom and I dropped some good money, and then hung around getting dinner long enough that the garage attendants had left already, and we weren't charged anything...

Re: StART Craft Fair on Sunday

1. Isn't the art part kind of implied by the stART part? anyway, tis true there were many fine artists there. Some were very fine even.

2. I went, dropped a chunk o change at a few different vendors. One of whom I bought stuff from just because she was so sweet to me. I can't help it. I like people.

3. I also got to purchase some wares from some people that I consider friends. I like having art made from people I know.

4. The DCU can suck my...never mind. They should have to pay the stArt group back some money for the stupid ATM debacle.

I know I enjoyed it. I had walked down and D found someplace to park that was public so we didn't have any problem with that. But I would definitely consider that a turn off if I had gone to a fair somewhere and then had to cough up that kind of dough. Would have made me turn around and go home for sure. (DCU JERKS!)

Hi! :-)

Damn! I meant to go to that. How was the music? Last year was the first time I got to see Collapsible Three and that was really cool.

Sorry, took yesterday off, needed to recover! I think the day went very well, but as always we had snafus, to be expected. But all in all it was a good day, artists made money, people from the area got to see a wide breadth of talent in both the fine arts and crafts fields. I'm glad those of you who have posted here enjoyed the day. We are now looking at planning a spring event, we'll keep you posted!

I also did well in sales at this event but can certainly see the advantage of having more reasonable parking. If that were available the show might have been great instead of very good. Us Worcesterites always manage to find free parking but the middle aged disposable income people (my best customers) may not care to circle the City as often as I am willing to! Nice job Tina and Sarah and the rest! You bust your tails to help us art people who really need people like you.
Thanks
