Erin and I were going to write a comprehensive review of the Safari Sam's show we were at last night but neither of us feel that welcome at Worcesterite.com right now. Me because, well, I am in California, not Worcester and her because she is IN California...and she is not a fan of the name change.
Also, we kind of have a busy day at Amoeba Records planned so we kind of cant be bothered.
Quickly however, The venue is cool, all ages, full bar, full menu, cheap PBR, good sound, good sightlines, big stage, free parking, all good things. The first band was Repeater who sound like Joy Division but if you ask them they probably think they sound like Interpol. They were great, cant wait to see them again. Next was a southern rock band from San Francisco called Kidd Cook Seriously. Great musicians. The best part was that they had and artist on stage sketching a portrait of Chuck Berry as they played...well that and the song that wouldn't end...you know the one. It has lots of solos and false endings and you applaud innappropriately and feel like an ass, that one.
Then came The Start i didn't know they were still together, Erin thought they were from Massachusetts, Weird. They were good, tight, had some rabid fans that knew all the words to every song. Aimee seemed drunk but still performed well. i will say their drummer, Chelsea was probably the best female drummer I have ever heard/seen, Erin agrees.
Tomorrow we will be at The Knitting Factory for Mondo Hollywood , an all day music festival where we will see Muck and the Mires , pretty cool. If you want a review, let us know.
