I love the four or five tunes that I've heard so far. Isn't that guitar one of those fancy Gibsons from the 30's? You know, like something you'd see Grant Lee Phillips holding?
I haven't heard anything but "Falling Down" from the Scarlett Johansson CD, and I liked that tune. The rest is no good, Zip?
I heard a track on Howard Stern and although they were trashing the hell out of it, I thought it sounded halfway decent. Bottom line: downloaded it, gave it a shot but I would probably never give it a spin again...I forgive her though...silly girl.
I was apprehensive when I first listened to it and at first I didn't really care for it. M. Ward however is no silly boy and the music and writing is top notch. I have warmed up to her voice after listening to it and I actually think that it's a solid record. I just got the whole album so who knows if I will like it next week but it's hitting the spot at the moment.
I really like the sort of old-school reverb tone on Zooey's vocal. It sounds like a classic acoustic chamber, like the one at Western (now Cello) in L.A. which is all over those classic Beach Boys and Mamas & Papas records. Probably a plug-in though.... Cynical me. :)
Re: She & Him
oh, and who knows what that beautiful guitar M. Ward is holding is, in the picture above?
Re: She & Him
I've heard a cut or two on Sirius, very cool vibe....I was skeptical at first after being burned by Scarlet Johannson.
