I couldn't agree more. I'm not saying that there's not a time and place for effects on drums, but to me there's nothing like the sound of good kit tuned well.

not to mention played by a great drummer. A good drummer can get away with some crappy drums and still sound great. That's always key to me. Have a good drummer, you've got a great band.
