Re: Ray LaMontagne
Got turned onto him about a year ago. Great stuff. Dark, brooding, offbeat sense of humor. Enjoy the show.
Re: Ray LaMontagne
Ray singing a tribute to Meg White.
( I have no idea how to get the flash of the song to work here so....)
Heres the link:

Re: Ray LaMontagne
I like Ray, and I too got into him about a year ago through a co-worker (@ the Trouble record), but I heard the latest record (well, to be fair, 3 songs off it), and was a little disapointed, I dunno why...
I'm out getting my abs airbrushed on...leave a message
Re: Ray LaMontagne
where did you get a copy? I cant find it- just the single
Re: Ray LaMontagne
As I said, I have a friend at work who got a hold of a few tracks.
I do not have a copy...sorry my post's edit was a bit unreadable. Now fixed.
Re: Ray LaMontagne
Co-worker burnt me a "new" disc of his last year that I thoroughy enjoyed. Kinda bleak and literate, remember one song about living above a gambling parlor in Ariz. that was pretty cool, but I can see how he could get a little monochromatic. Hope you enjoy the show.
Re: Ray LaMontagne
Two other great Maine singers you might be interested in if you like Lamontagne: Rod Picott and the late Bill Chinnock.
Re: Ray LaMontagne
I wonder why the Hanover isn't booking acts like this.
Re: Ray LaMontagne
That is a great question! I have given booking information and suggestions to members of the board I am acquainted with. So far, Frankie Valli. Yeah!

Re: Ray LaMontagne
This is a real easy answer. The Hanover isn't booking stuff like this because no one who wants to see stuff like this is buying season tickets or founders seats and the like.
That programming is almost exclusively MOR middle to upper class whitey baby boomer. They are catering to the benefactors of the Hanover.
If anything this is a good reason for people to volunteer at the Hanover to show them maybe not with our dollars but with our time that the theater is important to us too and that we want to see programming there that caters to a non baby boomer crowd.
I may make it known that I am not buying tickets to anything because nothing there interests me. They probably won't care.
Re: Ray LaMontagne
Well, Gordon Lightfoot just came through the area and played Boston and Northampton. He certainly would have been a great booking, but instead we get these weird mid-80's-in-moderate-rotation-on-WSRS-type acts.
Re: Ray LaMontagne
i just miss read it. oops ;)
I've heard "you are the best thing" and "Meg White". They are different from the feel of "trouble" and "till the sun turns black". I'm trying to keep an open mind to the happier sound of Ray Lamontange but my favorite tracks by him are the dark moody ones...
Re: Ray LaMontagne
good for this rainy day
Re: Ray LaMontagne
No worries Wirrlies, I still like Ray and would love to go, no cashola.
A Ray , Iron & Wine & Bon Iver show would be off the hizzy.
