Pizza

JoeBro's picture

So I’m a fan of pizza. I like it for lunch dinner and breakfast. Shoot, I’ll even have it as an occasional snack if it’s available.

I have a new favorite that I’d like to share with you all. But before I do, to establish Pizza Props, let me just say my past favorites have gone in this order:

Wonder Bar: Combo. From 1976-2006
Corner Grille: South-WestSide 2006-2007
Corner Grille: Veggahollic 2007 – 6/1/08
Juniors: Pickle Pizza 6/1/08 – Present and current Pizza Champ!!!!

I cant even begin to tell you how disappointed I am that Juniors made the list. I hate, or I guess now should say, “hated” Juniors. The staff there sucks and the pizza and food has always sucked too.

Re: Pizza

Wig Wam is some serious serious pizza. They are not messing around over there.

Re: Pizza

I second Gabe.

Crystal and I tried Willy's/ WigWam two weekends ago and it was so good! So good that we had it last Saturday as well.

That dough that they use is the bomb. I recommend the philly steak pizza and add bacon. Gotta love it!

Re: Pizza

Is is true that Pop's closed?

Re: Pizza

Holy Crap.

I dont even know what Pop's is or Willy's!!! Where have I been?

unless your talking about Willy's that place that is in the old Eddy's which was always referred to as Eddy's Pube? With all the rats and roaches that lived in there, it could turn into the 'Sole Proprieter 2' and I woudnt step foot in it. :-O

Re: Pizza

Willy's is in Billings Sq. Wild Willy's is a different place that is in the old Eddy's that has a superior burger and indeed, if you like a good burger you are missing out. Pop's is in Tatnuck Sq, was overrated and had really crappy hours. Their closing would not surprise me.

Re: Pizza

I don't doubt that steak bomb pizzas and bacon and stuff doesn't taste great but is that really pizza at that point? How's their cheese pizza, the sauce, the herbs?

and I disagree with Gabe that Pop's are overrated, I think it's the closest thing to a New York slice you can find in Worcester. I agree that the hours aren't good, I actually don't even know if they are still open, last time I was in there they said business was not great.

I have seen the horrendous Wig Wam sign but have yet to try the pizza. I'll give it a whirl soon, maybe Sunday after bowling.

Re: Pizza

oooh, you know who has pretty good 'pizza' pizza? American Pie at the old Honey Dew by Plumley Village. great sauce, great cheese, great crust!! just your typical pizza.. that's where we go when we want pepperoni. :-)

Re: Pizza

I may try this today on your recommendation.

Re: Pizza

I hear you Duncan for saying you can;t judge Willy's by the steak and bacon pizza, and want to know about a baseline cheese.

All I can say is their dough is super amazingly good and both pizza that I have tried (steak bomb and a buffalo chicken) were superior. With the steak bomb getting super high marks and the buffalo chicken being above average.

Both times Crystal built her own veggie pizza, with mushrooms, artichoke hearts and all other sorts of veggie goodness. she had one with sauce and one without and thought the white pizza was the best she has had in quite some time.

They state on their website something about the Italian dough they use being special, and I don't think it is just a marketing ploy. My tastebuds agree.

You really think that's really good pizza? I mean it wasn't bad pizza, but it was just typical Greek pizza. I am not a hater of Greek pizza, I grew up on the stuff, but I was expecting something blow me away awesome as your prior taste led me to believe.

American Pie? Just your average pizza. In my opinion that is.

Whoa Whoa Whoa, I said pretty good pizza. I wouldnt say it was greek style though, it's made by peurto ricans. :-}~

no, but seriously, it's nothing impressive. But for Pepperoni, I'll take it over papa ginos, any other greek joint in the city, wonderbar, jr.s or any other pizza place. Dude. it's where we go for pepperoni. I will say this though, that it has changed ownership, cause we tryed to phone interview the other week and it's number was disconnected. so I did a drive by and they were open and I walked in and placed an order. different peurto ricans working it and the sauce was a little bit better before (had more garlic). oh, and their whole "Feed a Family" 2 large pizzas, and a 2 liter for 19.99 was no longer, which sucks cause that's why we went there in the first place.

I will stand by my vote for Jr.s Pickle Pizza though (unfortunately)

Re: Pizza

so seriously, this wigwam place that your all referring to is the place on grafton street across from RoadRunner? Reminds me of just that, "roadRunner", or that other place that I cant think of the name that everyone brags about that delivers cigarettes, got it: Golden Pizza. (I think that's it).

Cool!!!

Do me a favor then and forward on my suggestion to him. He could probably finish a small pizza all by himself like any typical guy.. Have him sit down and finish a small Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza (sounds good, doesn’t it?). Wrong!! After he gets half way through he’ll feel exactly like I did and want to bitchslap who even thought of such a gross recipe for a pizza.

Re: Pizza

Why eat it then :) Try the BLT it's lighter then the Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza.
