Re: Petty Fans

on the short list of legendary american rock bands Tom Petty is there. This is a fantastic documentary and I think might even sway a few non-Petty fans to come to their senses. The footage that they have from the early days of Mudcrutch and then the Heartbreakers is unbelievable. From their first trip to LA with reels of their demo to knock on doors of record companies up to Howies death and Stans departure from the band is all covered.

What a great band and what an amazing songwriter. The body of work is astounding.

Oh! and Mike Campbell is a guitar god, no doubt about it.

Re: Petty Fans

yeah it's only through Best Buy. There is a concert from Gainesville Fl that I am going to pop in now. They also include a audio CD. Personally I had the stuff on the CD already. The boxset 'Playback' that came out a few years ago has everything.

Fantastic bargain for 25 bucks. I bought it the first day it came out...
Great documentary--four hours, very well paced. Makes the non believer a believer, it's an inspiring story much like the Dylan doc that came out a year or two ago.

I love that line "don't bore us, get to the chorus"...genius.

I saw Tom Petty in concert in St. Louis in 1995. Great live show!
