I had a great time at Start in the Park. So much cool stuff, the Twigs and Heather stuff was particularly cool. Chris from Munstre has some very cool t-shirts and lightboxes. I really preferred this location to the Park ave event, I prefer the green grass and the open field atmosphere.
Great event, thanks to the whole organization for putting it together.
I was talking to someone on Sat and we were saying they should kill the "street" event anyways and just do it at Elm park. Imagine all the booths lined up along the pathways. Plenty of room, don't have to deal with shutting down a street, technically bathroom facilities.
I am glad this went over well though. Always a good thing.
My family and I had a great time at the event. It was wonderful.
My daughter learned how to weave and both girls were fascinated by the blacksmith. Very nice day in deed.

Hi Everyone,
Thank you so much for the kind words, it means a lot to all of us, tired, sun burnt, happy organizers. We have always wanted to add a third event to our lineup, since the fall and winter events were so successful, spring was the logical choice. We also wanted it to be outside, and public parks in the city offer a great venue. We were thrilled with how the day went, so many people hanging out, shopping, talking, eating, just plain having fun. We anticipate that the crowd size will continue to grow, once people realize that this will be an established, yearly event. Last year we brought about 22,000 people to Park Ave and since we are expanding further down the street this year, we hope to bring even more. So, save the date, September 21st, 11am-5pm Park Ave, the big Woo.
And once again from all of us at stART, thanks for the support!
It's funny how it's talked about in the Snow Ghost video how there is just one group of people doing interesting things in the city and I think that's kind of a problem perception of the city amongst folks in Worcester. I think the reality is that there are cool things happening all over the city but that the city is very cliquey and there are so many people in the city that have been exposed to so much low quality stuff that there is an automatic assumption that if you don't know the people putting on an event that that event is going to be crappy. The fact that all Worcester really has for a hype machine is word of mouth kind of keeps that perception going where it's very rare that you hear about anything outside of your immediate circle that is any good.
Just a thought. Just over thinking again. Nothing to see here.
One more, this one is Kaz and "I'm From Worcester" having fun. Includes the footage we got when we "crashed" the Snow Ghost Show. What a great day.
And - I agree with Gabe's comments above. We should have a "no cliques" day in the spirit of the "no slogans" day where people get together with the purpose of meeting people outside their comfortable group of friends. Not that there's anything wrong with having a tight circle of friends. We just need to make those circles into a happy chain instead of isolated pools. Abolish the cliques, they're as bad as the slogans as far as keeping us all down. OK, all done now. Hope to meet more of my fellow Worcesterites out there.
By the way, in the spirit of the thread, congrats to stART for being an interesting event that is held a few times a year in the city that seems to transcend all the cliquishness. Everyone goes to stARt and everyone knows it's going to be a good time. Getting the majority of people to acknowledge that something is worthwhile here is a tough task I think.
