and told him that David Lee Roth was on the air as Howard Sterns replacement. A bit later Howard called in to say how pissed he was that he didn't get to say goodbye, a few callers called up, and David Lee Roth was annoying and bad...calling himself the new King of Radio. The problem was...it turned out to be a big joke by Howard.
It seemed plausible, Howard was off for the last few weeks for vacation, the higher ups would have thought it was a good thing...keep Howard under contract but off the radio for the next six months while his replacement tries to capture an audience. It was the perfect set-up for the perfect joke by Howard. I wouldn't be suprised if the story about David Lee Roth as Howards replacement that was out there a few weeks ago wasn't planted by someone in Howards camp. I have not listened regularly to Howard Stern in a few years but this stunt may bring me back.

Re: I woke Duncan up at 6AM today...
I only answered the phone because it was 6AM, I was expecting to have to bail you out of jail or something.
Re: I woke Duncan up at 6AM today...
I wouldn't bail my mother out of jail at 6am...
Re: I woke Duncan up at 6AM today...
6am I wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire...well, unless you are into that sort of thing...but still!

I caught the show later than you, and Stern was talking about the stunt, 'confirming' that Roth will indeed replace him in the NY market, while Adam Corolla takes up the west coast.
Not sure what to believe about that.
