I am thinking of installing MediaWiki on this site as a subdomain, something like wiki.worcesterite.com
It is redundant in a sense because wikipedia is so huge but I thought it would be interesting to see a wiki grow from the community that visits this site. It could ultimately be a way to see some history as well as see how it relates to the present in regards to art and music in Worcester.
It can only work if enough people were willing to participate and learn how to use the wiki.
Despite having a couple of high-profile projects there (and the very useful Worcester Media List), it gets very little use. I spend 99% of my admin time for that site dealing with spam.
If anyone is considering starting a wiki for a Worcester project, I'd invite them to start by adding something to the Worcester Activist wiki, then spinning the content off to its own wiki if the project starts to succeed.
I am still thinking of the way I want to go about creating a Wiki on this site. I will likely throw one up here in the near future. I am very interested in seeing the way musicians connect through other bands like Kevin Bacon connects to other actors.

Re: Would You Use A Local Wiki [poll]
I am sure that I would have spurts of of 30,000 word weeks in that thing and then do nothing for like 6 months. Kind of like everything else.
So I guess that is a yes?
Re: Would You Use A Local Wiki [poll]
it wouldn't take much, each person just kind of fills in what they know and links to the things that already exist. It could be amazing.
Imagine just one bands lineup, then all the bands and people that each of the people have played with. It could be very cool.

We've had a wiki for a couple of years at
