Lucky Dog's weekend of hair, heaviness and a real LIVE RAMONE
Black smoke & a new Pope, the Sox are looking good, the weather is beautiful & springtime mating is in the air as the male fish in my backyard are all ganging up on the 1 female.
I didn't even know there was only one female...poor girl. She's been swimming away from these heathens for 2 days straight.
There's also a fabulous week ahead here at the bar. I can't sleep with all this excitement so here are my announcements for this week.
Thursday 4/21
The ultimate entertainer is back but he's on early. It's Hank Scorpio who always seems to have been bitten by the lady love bug. 9:00pm he rolls the tape and he, "the Horny One...The Only One" lays down some serious messages about politics, religion and his views on the inhumane working conditions in Haitian sweatshops. Wanna see more? go to
http://www.hankscorpioentertainment.com
You won't see any of that fluff and puff there.
Second, more passionate music by some of Connecticut's finest butchers. MOIST CHICKEN. In their "glory days" you'd see a near naked man rolling around in vaseline and the innards of a feather pillow. Nowadays, you can find him relaxing with a fine cigar outside his beach front property wetting his lips with a few fingers of Glennfittich. Toning it down after almost getting kicked out of the entire state.
We held on to these kooks and you'll be glad we did when you see them perform here, (which is one of the last places they're even allowed to play at). Leaving the tar and feathering to the pirates and rogues (see below), they've entered the modern age with a new website and a dynamite outlook on life, nature and the healing powers of a good cry. I believe it is
http://www.moistchicken.com
I can't imagine they'd have to buy that domain from anyone else on this planet.
Third on tonight is the new project from a man that has wowed you in past years. His drumming talents have been lended to the original Disco Hell, the Flames AND the original Mullethead. He also was in DEREK & THE FUNBAGS, a CT based anomally that used to play in front of 800 people every week.
None of this crap even matters! Isn't that GREAT!?!?
His name is Matt and he dosen't do ANY OF THAT NOW!
You still may know him from those bands and his public access commercials. The new rock band is called LIVIN' TRUST.
Public service announcements and community service are always on the minds of the next outfit. MULLETHEAD rocks out with half their brain tied to a crackhead's bedpost and the other concentrating on which way their pants go on. Every week their stage/light show gets more and more involved and our electric bill goes further through the roof.
Lighting rigs, lasers and 5 microwaves set on defrost. Dandy!
The 80's rock Gods are learning new songs every week and still have not washed their spandex.
Tonight's show is $5 a mere fraction of what Mass Electric is asking.
FRIDAY 4/22 A $7 entrance fee payable to the Hawaiian Tropic tanning model at the door.
First on is RISK OF REALITY
Second is MIDNIGHT RENEWAL
Third is HALOBURN featuring exmembers of 7th Rail Crew.
Fourth is 12 STEP PROGRAM
And last, a band that have kicked around names like "we've led the fist to water and have made the fist drink" and the remarkable "How much drink can a fist drink drunk if a drink fist could fist drinks".
WBCN loves 'em, Florida loves 'em, we all love 'em and my mom loves their name. Folks, it's DRINKFIST.
SATURDAY 4/23 A sweet $6 for some great rock bands.
First on is PENDING VESPA There's a cool lil' website for them here:
http://www.pendingvespa.com
Next, the meat and potatos rock and roll of JOE ROCKHEAD.
Then, I've called them The Cold, The Bad or The Cheap COFFEE DRINKERS. Every time I make a flyer for them I seem to forget the proper adjective. They're actually called The CHEAP COFFEE DRINKERS. Not the Fist Drinkers. Last on is another visit from THE SIREN PROJECT.
Here's a funny picture of a cute dog taking a pee.
An image that has nothing to do with the show.
Why the Hell did I use it? Do you think it matters?
SUNDAY 4/24 FREE to get IN!
After 5 gruelling Sundays in a row, we've decided to give Disco Hell a week off. They'll be back with the boogie next week.
Remember folks, we are looking for people who would like to tell one or more of their favorite Disco Hell stories from the old days. If you fall into that category and are still alive please email me directly at so we can set you up.
The video is to be used for an upcoming production we're putting together. We ain't sure how far we'll take this thing but wouldn't it be an amazing achievement to make the next "Seed Of Chucky" or even "Ishtar"?
We are putting our all into this. we're also looking for animators for some certain portions of the flick.
Anyone that wants in should drop me the line.
We'll be open Sunday night and we'll probably have TRIVIA HELL as we've regularly scheduled and also playing is RELAPSE. a local rock group that will be playing for the next 2 Sundays with Disco Hell.
MONDAY 4/25
A message from the MassBay Film Association's Robert Newton: While New York punk icons The Ramones may have disbanded in 1996 after an over 20-year run, their legend lives. Two films playing at The MassBay Film Festival, which starts April 15th and features over 50 films in 13 venues in and around Worcester, celebrate the band's legend by honoring one of them.
On Monday, April 25th at 8:00pm, a night of rockumentaries, fly-on-the-wall presentations and straight-out rockin' will come to The Lucky Dog Music Hall at 89 Green Street in Worcester when The MassBay Film Festival hosts longtime Ramones drummer, Marc "Marky Ramone" Bell. First up is Lech Kowalski's seldom-seen Hey Is Dee Dee Home, about late founding bassist Douglas "Dee Dee" Colvin, followed at 9:00pm by the acclaimed, definitive biography film, End Of The Century. Following that, Marky will give a spoken word presentation about the history of the group, followed by a Q&A, signing and finally, a selection of Ramones classics.
"I met Marky at the 'Rock & Shock' weekend at The Centrum this past fall," notes festival programmer, Robert Newton, "and I said, simply, 'Thank you for helping make the world a slightly cooler place in which to live.' We are very happy to be able to host him at our festival." All-inclusive tickets for this event are just $13.00, online at http://www.TicketWeb.com or at any area Strawberries Music & Movies store. The MassBay Film Festival, which features over 50 films and runs from April 15-May 1, was started in 2003 by Worcester Magazine film critic Robert Newton and his wife, Cynthia. Please visit http://www.MassBayFilmFestival.org for more information concerning the festival.

On Monday, Marky Ramone will be playing with a "Worcester All-Star band" featuring members of Musclecah, Meat Depressed and others.
It's gonna be an historic event.
Hope you can see it.

Re: The Lucky Dog a RAMONE and you.
(from Rob Newton / Mass Bay Film...)
Hello,
Due to flight trouble, Marky Ramone was unable to appear at The Lucky Dog on
Monday, April 25th for the MassBay Film Festival's presentation of "Hey Is
Dee Dee Home" and "End Of The Century". However, the night has been
rescheduled for Monday, May 9th. Starting at 8:00pm (doors open at 7:30pm),
both films will be shown again, and the ticket price has been reduced from
$13.00 to $10.00. Marky will give a spoken word presentation about the
history of The Ramones, will perform a set and will sign autographs for the
fans.
Regards,
Rob Newton
