Wormtown Sound Awards 2005 results

I am stuck at work and don't have today's WoMag. I did get a sneak peek of the results last night but I can only remember that Officer Down won something in a category they didn't belong in.

Wow, this year really sucked. Not only do I disagree with the way the winners rekate to their categories, but I don't see "Huck" "Deadites" Curtain Society" "Jon Kervin" Dynamo Habeeb" "Oracle" "Roger Lavallee" or "Scott Ricciuti" once through out that list. NOT EVEN ONE!
I only voted for two of the winners, DJ Shame, and Bee's Knees...AND SOMEBODY BEAT SUNFORM WITH A DEMO CD!

Now that I double check I voted for Giraffe on their two wins as well.

Re: Wormtown Sound Awards 2005 results

The whole process this year really was a bad idea. There should be a nomination process then a voting process. I mean Officer Down as a Punk act? They are a Metal band. And is a band like Huck a Pop act or a Rock act? What if some voted in one and some voted for the other.

Sadly I think that for many different reasons, no people other than the bands and some fans care about this stuff. The people that voted for their favorite band vote, the band votes and then the results are printed. It isn't really an honor to win. What would be an honor is getting an award that has been presented by a group of people contemplating who really is the "best" at something and awarding them.

Look at what something like winning a Grammy

Re: Wormtown Sound Awards 2005 results

I will be honest...I think the wormtown awards have been fucked for a long time.

There were bands last year nominated who hadn't even played a show together yet! I can say we didn't try to get out one vote this year after being disgusted by the whole thing last year.

So, really, this year was messed up too...does that surprise anyone?

The only thing I can say is it seems like the jam band seen is working very hard, so congrats to them...same to the knees...but a list with out vocalists like Roger or Scott...lets just say, it doesn't reflect MY tastes.

I also think the voting should be changed...but really, how do you keep it from becoming a good ole boys award ceremony? There were bands in this list I hadn't heard of before.
