I drive the Pike every day to and from work. From the west side of Worcester there is no easy way to get to the Pike, but the 146 entrance seems to work best for me. The geniuses who designed the 146 entrance to the Pike from Worcester, in an effort to always make Worcester more difficult than it should be, make you cross 3 lanes of oncoming traffic from the off ramp on 146, then you get to sit at a light and then merge four lanes into two lanes to get on to the pike. It is a total failure of civil engineering.
The reason I asked Mike what time he was flying out is that I could possibly give him a lift in on my way to work.
146? that's crazy... I dont know anyone who actually uses that unless they live in Milbury.
From the west side I think the quickest way is right down belmont street to rt. 9. I'd be willing to bet a couple guitar picks that it would cut off at least 10 minutes from your commute... man, even 290 to 495 would be faster than 146.

They are all about the same. I change it up sometimes. According to my GPS, it likes going down Chandler to Kelley Square to 290 to 146 to 90. This route moves quickest for me.
I sometimes do 290/495/90 and it is the same amount of time. I even just google mapped all the variations and they are all basically the same. Rt.9 has to be the most traffic and lights though.

i love this post.
i honestly really want to find out who designed this whole interchange... or more importantly who signed it off???
im an engineer. if i did something like this id be fired.
I talked to a fellow non-car-owner about getting to Logan, and she suggested that Greyhound->South Station->Silver Line->Logan is the way to do it. Based on the printed schedules, this would take about 90 minutes to go from Worcester's Union Station to Logan, and cost about $11.
Re: Best way to get from Worcester to Logan airport?
take the pike straight in. shouldn't be more than an hour.

Re: Best way to get from Worcester to Logan airport?
Seconded. You should plan for an hour. With the Ted it's very very easy now.
Re: Best way to get from Worcester to Logan airport?
what time is your flight?
Re: Best way to get from Worcester to Logan airport?
hmmm. the better question should be, what's the quickest way to the pike?

Re: Best way to get from Worcester to Logan airport?
Well jeez Mike, if you are going to commute it take the commuter rail. That is by far the easiest. That is the easiest car or no car.
I thought you were talking about driving in exclusively.
