Another Question About the Mac Mini

I am really considering buying a Mac Mini. When I go to the options for purchasing the Mac Mini it gives me an option of how much memory I want. Is it worth an extra $75 to get 512 MB added to my memory? (It says 512MB DDR333 SDRAM - 1 DIMM ; But I don't know what all that means).

Also, what is the "AppleCare Protection Plan?"
Does that mean that the Mac Mini breaks easily?

Re: Another Question About the Mac Mini

its worth it only if you dont want the hassle of upgrading yourself. You NEED at least 512 running OSX, but you can def get it cheaper aftermarket.

The protection plan is just Apples aftermarket warenty. Its not a matter of the mini breaking easy, its a matter of you breaking the mini and not beaing able to fix it on your own.

crucial.com has that ram for $55.
That apple plan thing is good and bad. Good if you need it cause they pay for everything, bad cause it cost money up front. On a lot of their products they alow you to sometimes purchase the apple care after the fact. This came in handy for more then one of my friends that had something break on them after the 1 year was up and the guy at the apple store said "why don't you buy the apple care plan it will be half as much as the repair and it will put another couple years warrenty on the piece". I can't guarentee every salesperson is going to do this but I have known more then one person do this. One of my macs broke and it was almost a year over warranty. They still covered it under the warranty. It wasn't cheap either, it was a screen for a laptop. Seems like when it comes to getting you what you need they find ways to work it out.
