Oh, bummer.  Sometimes I wish I had become a tin whistle player, so I could just carry my instrument wherever I went.

Or the piano accordion.  This

Or the piano accordion.

This will be my last Ireland story, I promise.  I went up to a few musicians after a session one night and asked them what would be the easiest traditional instrument for a piano player to learn.  "Piano accordion," one of them said.  There was a pause, and then they all burst into wild laughter at the ridiculousness of such a thing, which is apparently a dumb-down version of a real accordion.

At which point I reconsidered my decision to buy one while I was over there.  And hence I had more money for Guinness.

So happy ending all around.
