Re: Big News for Worcester Political Junkies

That was a very cool event last night. Thanks to Brendan for making it all happen. It was interesting to see the candidates at the Dive. They were allowed a good half of the time to blow the hot air they build up in their systems for these types of affairs and then it got good. As I had hoped and maybe instigated, being in a bar gave the debate a more loose and in my opinion more 'real' feel. At the end of it all, the candidates didn't really convey any concrete ideas. They identified a lot of problems that frankly none of the audience needed reminding of. Connie Lukes was really the only person up there who replied to questions with answers. Most of the time they candidates just repeat the question and then ramble on about the problem, never offering any ideas.

I certainly don't feel any better about local politics but I do feel that having a discussion about this stuff over beers is a step in the right direction.

Bravo to Brendan again for making it happen and to Alec and the Dive Bar for hosting.

Yes, Bravo. A great idea that I'm sorry I couldn't attend.

Re: Big News for Worcester Political Junkies

I submitted the question about CitySquare, which ended up going to Gary Rosen. He summoned forth his best "scolding teacher" tone of voice and chided our impatience. He was even pressed regarding the news that we wouldn't see ground broken in three years (quote from the T&G: "Once tenants have been found, Mr. Park said, construction could get under way in about three years."), and he basically told us that we were mistaken and that tenants would start moving in three years. I'm willing to bet we can ask him the same question during the next election...
