Ahmet Ertegun passes away.

Atlantic Records founder, Ahmet Ertegun has passed away at the age of 83 after a recent fall at a Rolling Stones concert. He had been in a coma and on life support since November.

He co-founded the record label in 1947. He was responsible for bringing us so much great music. One of the true music lovers in an industry full of businessmen.

Just a small sampling of the great jazz, R&B and rock acts that Ertegun (along with his brother Neshui, Herb Abramson, Jerry Wexler and Tom Dowd) brought to the world through the 50's and 60's would include such greats as Aretha Franklin, Duke Ellington, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, Rolling Stones, Stone Temple Pilots, Ray Charles and Frank Zappa, who named a son after Ahmet.

He was one of the last of the old guard of music moguls that founded the modern recording industry in America.

Thank you, Ahmet.
