Despite the thousands of people that go to The Pet Rock Festival each year, and the tens of thousands of dollars that are given to rescue groups, shelters and educational
institutions, I still meet people who don't know what Pet Rock is. In addition to being a great cause, one that I care about deeply and am personally involved in, it is also a really good time. Walking around and seeing the hundreds of people with their dogs is worth the trip alone, but there is more to it than that.

Pet Rock Festival 2005
Where: Quinsigamond Community College, 670 West Boylston St., Worcester
When: Noon to 5 p.m., Sunday (rain date, Sept. 18)
How much: $10, adults; $5, children 6 and over, $5; free, under 6. Dollar-off coupons can be downloaded at petrockfest.com and are available at all area Petco stores.
