Reason 3.0 released!

The greatest software synth on the planet has been stuck at V2.5 for a couple years. It hasn't bothered me at all since Reason is almost perfect. The announcement of version 3 however has me dying to get my hands on it.

I have been composing digital music for many years and when Reason came along I was skeptical that I would ever give up my midi cables and all my modules. As all my keyboards and all my modules continue to gather dust, I must admit that Reason is to blame.

Version 3.0 boasts some very interesting enhancements. The MClass Mastering Suite with EQ's, compressors and and stereo imagers has me foaming at the mouth. The new sound banks, the line mixer and the Combinator all look great as well.

I have said it since V.1, if Propellerheads would integrate digital audio recording capabilities into Reason, music production on other platforms would just be a waste of time for me.

When I finally get up and running with the Version 3 I will have a review up here on Volcano Boy.

Take a look at the trailer for the new release.

Re: Reason 3.0 released!...

Do you know if all of the sounds that were on the trailer are from Reason 3.0? Including the Drum samples...Especially the drum samples.
And how does a drum machine on a software program work.

Re: Reason 3.0 released!...

Not only does Reason give you nearly unlimited amounts of killer drum samples and the means to manipulate them, it also has great drum loops and the ability to use your own (or third party) samples. It's a pretty incredible piece of software.

The main drum machine part of the program (but not the only means of creating a rhythm track) is called Redrum. It's a step sequencer, like the olden days of drum machines. It gives you 10 drum samples to play with a basic 16-step sequencer. You're not limited to only 16 steps though, as you can adjust whether they're 16th notes, 32nd notes, dotted 8th notes, etc, and whether you have 8 or 16 or 32 or 44 steps.

Duncan can probably chime in here. When I have a question about Reason, I ask him.
