"THROUGH THE DOOR WITH FISTS AND HEARTS FIRST"
Springsteen's induction speech of U2 (3/14/05):

Uno, dos, tres, catorce. That translates as one, two, three, fourteen. That is the correct math for a rock and roll band. For in art and love and rock and roll, the whole had better equal much more than the sum of its parts, or else you're just rubbing two sticks together searching for fire. A great rock band searches for the same kind of combustible force that fueled the expansion of the universe after the big bang. You want the earth to shake and spit fire, you want the sky to split apart and for God to pour out. It

Yeah, it was great to view that interspersed with their performance footage, and then the band speeches. The Edge's speech was especially moving.

Yeah, I enjoyed all of U2's speeches but something about Bruce's was touching. I was thinking that not only is Bruce cool for putting so much thought into what he wrote, but that I haven't even begun to achieve what U2 has. I admire that band a lot and Bruce sort of put into words what I think a lot of people feel about them. The montage of footage leading up to his speech was sending shivers.

Can I just say that what VH1 has done to the TV version of the induction ceremony is a travisty. I used to love watching when they just ran the whole ceremony, but now it is to ready for TV. (end rant)

I also thought that Neil Young's induction speak for the Pretenders was great. I have always thought there was something special about that band. And Chrissy's speach was very touching and pretty funny.

I missed the Justin Timberlake speach on the O'Jays, but they were pissed that he had anything to do with it.

a fucking greed

play the whole speech, then play the whole song.

the fading in and out of songs and bouncing between the music and the speeches drove me crazy.

here are my memories of the show....

The Justin speech was kind of odd, he did a fine job but it was odd that they chose him.

I never liked the Pretenders and I still don't.

Robbie Robertson played like total crap.

Buddy Guy is a GOD

U2 singing Bruces Promised Land at the end of Vertigo was righteous.

Bruce singing Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For was also righteous.

Bo Diddley is old.

I FUCKING HATE how the Paul Schaeffer band is always the house band for these shows. They are just cheesy, good players or not they are irritating.

Neil Young is cool however I don't believe that Crazy Horse took any cues from The Pretenders.
