Ry Cooder Clark U. 1975

A friend copied this bootleg recording of Ry Cooder solo at Clark University, on November 8th, 1975, from WCUW's reel-to-reel vault.

I have treasured this recording since the 1980's when I received it.

Recently I converted my cassette copy to mp3 and spit up the tracks. With Duncan's advice, I uploaded it to divshare in order to share the wealth.

This is a fantastic roots recording of a master of blues fingerstyle, slide, and mandolin. Additionally, Cooder's song choice cuts a wide swath, and his storytelling is great.

Fans of Jon Short and that kind of thing will love this.

Here's a sample, Blind Blake's "Diddy Wah Diddy."

Obviously that link didn't work. Anybody know how to embed an mp3?

Otherwise, go to divshare and search the show's specifics. I've made it a public file.

yeah sometimes the VB editor doesn't like the code. It's real simple to make it work.

Above the text area that you type in, there is a section where you can select which editor you are using. Choose "extended DHTML form" and the window will change, losing all the fancy editing but allowing you to throw all that code in there and have it work.

This is only if you are embeding a file, if you are just posting a link to download the file or the mp3 then just past the link in here without all the code.

and hurry! I want to hear this.

"Some little girl 'bout four feet four, said, 'come on papa and gimme some more of your diddy wah diddy.'"

I'll try to post it later today.

The playing is phenomenal and Cooder is a very funny storyteller, and drops some surprising names from the period.
