| Local filmmaker Rod Murphy Jr., will be presenting, "A Potpourri of Films in Progress" at the 12 Crane St. Entertainment Complex in Southbridge on Thursday, January 17th, 2008 at 7 p.m. The program will be on the main level, just off the Hop Vine Café. Murphy has received many awards for his documentaries, including the critically acclaimed "Greater Southbridge" (available through Netflix) a film "full of colorful characters whose spirits virtually personify the small town way of life" commented the New York Times. Among the awards Murphy received was Best Documentary Award from the Hollywood Underground Film Festival in 2003. "Rank Stranger" is one of three films nearing completion that captures the bluegrass music tradition in Asheville, NC - Murphy's new hometown. An admission charge of $10 will apply. Diners at the Hop Vine Café can avail of the prix fixe chicken primavera or fish and chips meal, prior to the lecture, for an inclusive price of $25.
