2 cups powdered sugar Fill your mug half full with the mixture and pour in hot water. Stir to combine. Seal the rest in an airtight container, keeps indefinitely in the pantry. This also works great with warm milk. If you have been to my house in the winter, I have likely served this to you because it is delicious. I made some this afternoon and thought I would share. It's an Alton Brown recipe, he is the man.
1 cup cocoa (Dutch-process preferred)
2 1/2 cups powdered milk
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 pinch cayenne pepper, or more to taste
Hot waterCombine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and incorporate evenly. In a small pot, heat 4 to 6 cups of water.

Re: Hot Cocoa recipe
Without mentioning any names, I can think of a few people that could use a little Polysorbate 60 in their diet.
Hair Growth Products
The New Generation 2 hair care product line is based on the Original Baldness Prevention Formula with a few added ingredients, such as Witch Hazel, Nettle and a higher concentration of our main active ingredient Polysorbate 60. The Witch Hazel and Nettle are both vasodilators which help increase the blood flow to the scalp encouraging hair growth......
Re: Hot Cocoa recipe
real nice Barry, I post a Hot Cocoa recipe and this is what I get.
nice.
Re: Hot Cocoa recipe
i really wanted hot cocoa yesterday after reading this thread. I put on some hot water and checked the cupboard.
i didnt have any of duncans or barrys ingrediants stocked yet for the winter.
:(
I grew up having hot cocoa the old fashioned way- until swiss miss hit the shelves.
BUT
polysorbate 60 used for generating hair growth?
that doesnt sound like the kind of cream i want in my cocoa

Re: Hot Cocoa recipe
Duncan, which cocoa do you buy and at what store? I found it hard to get Dutch processed, unless I'm misreading labels or going to the wrong store. Not that I didn't find some lovely cocoa anyway, but I'd like to know where I can get it.
Hi! :-)

It is a bit harder to find and when I can't find it I just use the stuff you find anywhere (Hershey, store brand etc). I have found Dutch Process at Trader Joes and there are many places online you can order it. One of things it does is it dissolves better, regular cocoa can get kind of clumpy.
Here's a link to the stuff I have used in the past droste cocoa
To keep things local, I would bet that Ed Hyder's on Chandler St. has something, and that place is amazing anyway so even if they don't you'll get something delicious.

Either would work. Leaving out the powder and using milk is going to get a very similar result. Leaving powder in and using milk will make a much creamier drink. I always use water.
