Hey all, how did everyones shows go?
Huck and I had a fun time at Vincent's for the happy hour, played a couple sets to a nice crowd of people. Then we shot over to the Dive for The Curtain Society plus Scott to play 9-1. Had a fantastic night, nice crowd and that Drayman's Porter on cask was out of this world.
Thanks to Michael for coming up and playing all those songs, expecially the Petty medley. Also thanks to Brooks and his cousin for coming up to play a few. Brooks on drums for Monkey gone to Heaven was awesome.
Let's hear about all the other shows that happened this Wednesday.
Re: How was everyone's gigs?
Ralph's started off surprising slow (I guess everyone was hanging out at Vincents) but by 10:00 it was a mad house...we hit the stage at 10:30, Steve was on the money with sound that night, Tim Hansen sounded great and we are glad to have him on as full time Zero'er...a great talent.
Wasn't able to catch Super 400...but the place was still rockin' by the time I had left though.
Re: How was everyone's gigs?
Run and Gun at Brew City was our usual - about five continuous hours - a good time, but nothing too memorable. We had a great crowd all night, though, right till closing.
I never did see Barry (or anyone else) with his Budweiser hat on.

Re: How was everyone's gigs?
I am not in a band, but I did see some great music this weekend. We started our Wednesday night out at Vincent's and the guys were great, it was a lot of fun. Friday we also went back to Vincent's and saw the Bees Knees, I hadn't seen them in ages, and it was fantastic. I had so much fun at both shows, thanks to all who played!
Re: How was everyone's gigs?
the bean pickers union played church in boston on wednesday, first full band show in awhile. it was lightly attended but we played well, and had a blast.
there's some video up on youtube. first time i've ever seen video of myself playing. i want to know why no one ever told me my ass was so big.
Re: How was everyone's gigs?
I was on Church's website today trying to figure out what kind of room it is. I may go see Count Zero there soon.
Re: How was everyone's gigs?
it's a pretty nice room. the sound dude needs to hook up a mic to talk to you (we were yelling back and forth, kinda stupid), but other than that the sound was pretty good. the stage is fairly big, maybe somewhere between ralphs and the abbey size.
Re: How was everyone's gigs?
We had a good time in Brilliant playing at the Abbey on Tuesday. Nice small place so the small audience made the room feel full. The people who work at the Abbey are really nice. I can't recall a place in which the bartender held the door for me while I was moving my equipment and the sound man did a nice mix and was very helpful. I'm in it for the fun and god people make it more fun.

I had an equipment problem at the Abbey during the 2nd song that caused me to have to remove my speaker attentuator, thus causing me to have wildly fluctuating sound levels during our set. Then, moving my amp offstage, I stepped on a cable at the edge of the stage and slid off a 2.5 foot stage and landed solely on my right ankle, which rolled over and crumpled like a just-elected politician's morality. It's still the size of a softball, except in much cooler colors. All future flying knee drops are suspended until ankle re-certification.
Friday night at Vincent's my Taylor acoustic that I brought as a spare for guests got knocked over 3 times, the last one resulting in a huge chunk gouged out of the neck, through the binding and into the fretboard. It's currently in hospital. We'll see what the great Dave Dick can do with it.
And quite honestly, Friday I thought we were not very good.

Thanksgiving was nice though.
