I don't like radiohead in general, I love Kid A, dislike most everything else. I did however pay 1 british pound( plus a 45 pence download fee) to download their new album just because I thought it was a cool concept. If you don't already know, The new release from Radiohead is called In Rainbows and you can only get it from their website as a download, and you pay what you want for it. Here is the link..

Re: Radiohead In Rainbows download.
All yesterday afternoon one of my multi-tasks was trying to download this album. The shopping cart made no sense to me. Finally I got to the order stage, and realized that the "shipping" address is actually supposed to be your credit card billing address. Since mine are different, and I couldn't figure out how to change it, I was unable to buy it.
Today I'm thinking of starting over with a new account/e-mail address. Wish me luck....
Re: Radiohead In Rainbows download.
I'm downloading it now. I scraped up whatever nickels I could find in order to pay for it, as that's about all I could afford. I'm sure they won't be insulted.
I can't say that I've loved anything as much as I loved the Bends and OK Computer, which was ten years ago. I'll see what they're up to now.

Re: Radiohead In Rainbows download.
I grabbed it Wednesday for free on bittorrent but paid the 7 euro today. I think it's pretty cool that a band this big is doing this.
the album is pretty good so far. I have only listened a couple times.
Re: Radiohead In Rainbows download.
I'm just not sure how I feel about the cover art...
Re: Radiohead In Rainbows download.
On first listen I really liked it, I think it's going to get better. I gave myself the fellow musician discount and paid $6.00.
Re: Radiohead In Rainbows download.
I like Radiohead a lot. They never serve it up easy. You really have towork for it.
And as for recent stuff, "Hail to the Thief" is amazing.

Re: Radiohead In Rainbows download.
d-l'ed it last nite, and listenned through a few times, including in my sleep... it's very cool, very good moods harmonies and structure...alot of "stream of consciousness"-linear jammy type stuff that really digs in. (edit: glad they are exploring new ground back in "band" mode instead of trying to re-write Creep to regain radio notoriety... better? Maybe not), and are doing novel things to market themselves... sorta like an alterna-rock Pearl Jam..to me anyway.
And tho I was bored to tears with Amnesiac, I love that they still explore different directions every album. Bravo.
I dig it alot. I have yet to pick up Hail to the Theif...I was a tad underwhelmed with the single, and maybe not in a Radiohead state of mind...I'll give it a go soon...until then, I'll get mileage outta this.
I'm out getting my abs airbrushed on...leave a message
Re: Radiohead In Rainbows download.
And the problem with writing 3 minute pop song is, er, what?
Re: Radiohead In Rainbows download.
I don't follow, Ron.
Re: Radiohead In Rainbows download.
Oh geez, I didn't mean it like that...they had been hinting they were going back to a more traditional band type thing, and I was curious what direction they would take... that's all I meant...I was pleased with the direction, they weren't playing it obvious.
Geez, I type something hastily / half mindedly while trying to get my work done and I get handed my ass.

Just bustin' balls
Re: Radiohead In Rainbows download.
And I love ya for it.
Just proof positive I should read back before I hit the submit button....I don't like tasting my shoes...
Re: Radiohead In Rainbows download.
When Radiohead announced last week that they would be releasing their seventh album, In Rainbows, via their official Web site, there was much fanfare and some honest-to-goodness debate about the future of the music industry, the validity of major labels and just how people consume music.
But in the days since that announcement, a whole lot of that fanfare has curdled, thanks to moves by the band and its management that some see as dishonest, distasteful and, well, downright un-Radiohead. The sentiment among many fans seems to have gone from admiration for the group's willingness to let the consumer decide how much to pay for the new album to anger over the low quality of the downloads — and dismay over the band's manager's statement that the you-choose-the-price downloads were just a promotional tool for the release of the physical CD.

Re: Radiohead In Rainbows download.
The Radiohead download is 160kbps which is better than what you buy from the iTunes store. Compressed but pretty hard to detect.
Re: Radiohead In Rainbows download.
funny, I was thinking the same thing, mine, for an MP3, sounds pretty good...
Re: Radiohead In Rainbows download.
Hmmm. Quite a muddy controversy. It sounds somewhat suspect, but the last quote, that we all would've dl'ed the leak and would've listened without thought of the resolution, makes some sense.
More startling, however, was the headline beneath the Radiohead article, "Nick Cannon splits with fiance."
Re: Radiohead In Rainbows download.
I officially love this record. It's the most soulful Radiohead record in some time.
Re: Radiohead In Rainbows download.
Anyone know what the Track "Videotape" is sampling? Its reminding me of something from the 80's that I cant put my finger on.....Billy Joel maybe?
