Martín Espada will read from his new collection Republic of Poetry, at the Jacob Edwards Library, 236 Main Street, Southbridge, MA at 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 pm. The event is FREE and open to the public.
Espada is considered one of the foremost contemporary poets. Among his pubications are "Alabanza" the title poem in homage to those undocumented workers killed in 9/11.
An English professor at the University of Massachusetts, he has previously had a successful career as a lawyer in Cambridge.
