This week on a very special Dive Bar Thursday
A close friend asked me to put together a band to play at his wedding this weekend. He and she wanted lots of soul music and funk. So I put together what I think is a great band and we learned a bunch of songs. The wedding is Saturday and we need to rehearse. So, rather than cancel the Dive bar Thursday show we decided that it would be fun so set up an entire band at the Dive and play music.
Amongst a lot of other songs, we will be doing Stevie Wonder, Al Green, Barry White, James Brown, Bee Gees, Eddy Grant, Prince, Otis Redding, Van Morrison and The Beatles.
The band is Steve Mossberg (keyboards), Roger Lavallee (guitar), Craig Rawding (vocals), Ron Mominee (bass) and myself on drums. I couldn't ask to play with a better band and I assure you that it's going to be an incredibly good time.
And of course, don't forget that The Dive has the best beer around, there is no cover charge and things start at 8

Is it not ridiculous the amount of talent jammed into a corner of one of the coolest bars around? And then watching you had Dawn & Charlene, Scott, Michael and a host of others. You could have lit one of those light beacons with the talent contained in that room.
Those were some of the best bass lines I have heard Ron play too! (:))
I have to give special props to Craig though...I am not sure there is a song out there he can't sing to perfection. Nice job all!
This weeks cask was good, but not as good as the left hand stout. Yummy. See if you can get the stone smoked porter on tap in a few weeks. My next couple thursdays will be split between Austin and Phoenix.

of course we missed you ron, you silly man. but it was a fun night.
at one point while i was passing the hat, this guy was not going to give me any money...then when you guys did the stevie wonder song, he was like, "ok where do i put my money, that was awesome."

Really great stuff. The Wonder tune was spectacular. I was literally hypnotized watching Rog play the riff.

Sounds like a great time. So, how did the wedding work out, Duncan? Now, you can add "wedding singer" to your resume.
Has the Dive Bar guy asked Harpoon for a cask? They have one tapped out there all the time, and one owner (Dan Kenary) is a good old Worcester boy.

I've had Harpoon casks in Long Island, so it should be feasible. The regular Harpoon Ale is pretty nice on cask, as is the IPA.
