Lost Sailor's been around a while, but it's a pretty underrated IPA. Probably because it's an English IPA and lacks the up-front, assertive bitterness that is all the rage in the American IPA scene. Personally, I find it to be be very well-balanced one of the most sessionable IPA's out there. It's also a nice stepping stone towards acclimating oneself to the aforementioned hop-bombs.
The last time I had Lost Sailor on cask, the bitterness was even more mild, although the hop flavors and aromas were more prominent... I believe they dry hop the beer in the tanks.. I wonder if they hop the cask as well.
Yay! Great night. Nice job Alec, Duncan, Steve, and Michael.
I had two glasses of the cask, which I was pleasantly surprised by.
I also had an Alec special mix -- 50% Festina Peche and 50% Allagash Tripel. I thought it was quite tasty, and the Allagash did a great job of reducing the pucker factor of the Festina Peche.
damn, I really wanted to make it out for this...sorely needed band practice and visiting inlaws from Texas put the kaibosch on that...not that I am complaining as I had a nice 15 yr scotch with my father in law last night.
Well, if any one wants to come out tonight, we are playing Ralphs @ 9pm with the Luxury, Hey Now Morris Fader, and Huck.
So, who wants to help kick these kegs of homebrew that I still have going? The various pale ales feel like they're down to a few pints apiece, but I think I still have about 2.5 to 3 gallons of oatmeal stout left....
Thank you all for coming out!! I felt like a proud parent! Great job on the music you guys! I can't wait to hear that again!
Sadly, this thursday there will be no cask (I will be in Jamaica)---BUT the following Thursday 7/19 we're aiming for two Casks! AND Duncan and Steve are rumored to return!
Re: Cask Ale, Craft Brew, Soul Jazz 8pm Thursday at the Dive

We also sell the Lost Sailor IPA on draught so it will be nice to be able to compare the differences!
