The Dive Bar - last night 6/2

Met a group of friends (most of which post here) at The Dive bar last night around 8pm. I have said it before but I want to say it again, The Dive is a great place and has fantastic beers. The 10 of us had about 3 rounds and everyone was trying new stuff and sharing. I wish I could remember any of the names of the stuff we had but it was all pretty good. I am a fan of the Three Philosophers, the Coffeehouse Porter and whatever that raspberry mixed with the Chocolate stout was. I think Jenn may have a better recollection of what people were drinking. I am certain we all had a good time there last night and it was the perfect pre-show to seeing the bands at the Lucky Dog.

So go check out the Dive bar, and let people know you're going down there and we'll probably meet you down there.

Seriously. I found my new favorite beer. Three times. Each round was better than the last. And I took the menu home so I could study it and be ready to try something new as soon as we go back.

Beer- after debating that I have tried it 1,000,000 times and never learned to like it - I was persuaded last night to try it for the 1,000,001 time in the form of a Sake Bomb.
If the Dive has a beer that doesnt taste like beer let me know. I will give it a 1,000,002 try. but only if it doesnt taste like beer.

I'd say go for the 20% chocolate porter and 80% raspberry ale. It was like dessert in a glass. Or, you know, just take some friends with you. You can just keep trying until you find one that you like. I'd be happy to finish off all of your rejects.

not really a great place to drink if you don't like beer, I assume they serve some other things, sort of not the idea there though.

Well, it's a bar right. So therefore there should be the option to drink whiskey or vodka or even tequila. Probably no sake though.

All done with nice.

They may have a great vodka selection, I don't know, but I do know they have lots of beer and owners that are passionate about beer. Next time I am in I will check and see what other options they have.

I'm just recovering from our trip to the Dive Saturday night.

It's so exciting to have a bar like this in Worcester.  Figures, as soon as I leave town, this place starts getting better.

To add to Duncan's list...  I had an Allagash White (my favourite) and an Ommegang's Hennepin (very yummy).  I had a taste of the Great Divide Wild Raspberry Ale which was really good (and what Amanda had mixed with her Young's Double Chocolate Stout), and the Rogue's Dead Guy Ale (yummy).  Michael had a Flying Dog's Doggie Style Classic Pale Ale (not all that great, too hoppy for my taste), BBC Coffeehouse Porter (one of his favourites) and a Young's Double Chocolate Stout.

Other beer I saw coming out was Fraoch Heather Ale (I didn't get a taste, but it smelled really good), a Unibroue Ephemere (that was one tasty beer) and Stone's Smoked Porter.

I can't wait to see what other beer Alec gets in there.  He's doing such great things with that bar.

not necessary - the dive makes good mixed drinks. I was only asking if there were any other beers on the beer list that didnt taste like beer - ha kind of a stupid question. f

from my perspective you can add anything to beer but it will still taste like beer. I may give amanda's chocolate raspberry thing a shot.

beer in cooking is pretty good tho

They also have lambic. My sister hates beer and loves lambic. The ephemere was fantastic and fruity as well. Alec can probably help you pick something out too. Let us know when you're going.
