In the past week I have been to the Boston Opera House twice, first to see Guster and then tonight to see Van Morrison. Both shows were really great in their own right. Guster puts on an amazing show and are amazing players and Van Morrison is friggin' Van Morrison. The sound at the Opera House is what is so amazing. Sure it was built over 100 years ago to have great acoustics for unplugged music and singers but that formula doesn't always translate to good sound. Often those old venues sound like a disaster with rock concerts but the sound at both of the two shows I saw this past week have sounded incredible. The bands certainly help by being really talented but hats off to the Boston Opera House and whoever is doing the sound there.

Re: Boston Opera House, Guster, Van Morrison
We had the opportunity to check out the Opera House last night. What a beautiful building. I couldnt help but wonder how Worcesters own "Hanover center" will compare.
As far as the sound goes...Damien Rice was far better here than he was last summer at The Pavilion. Of course there were no thunder storms to contend with this time and there were no other bands to rush him. I really enjoyed the venue and the show last night.
Heads up on eats near by...."Ivy" tapas style restaurant up the block everything was good but the scallops were amazing. Worth the trip for the scallops alone.

Just as an aside, I hung the banner brackets you see on the wall.

Yetitibbs and I saw Sigur Ros at the Opera House last year. As much as he disliked the show, I'm sure Michael could tell you that the venue sounded amazing. What a beautiful building too, I couldn't stop staring at the ceiling.
