Re: +++ Last FM

the player on last fm worked fine for me.
I liked "On a train from new york to worcester" but "You never call" is still my favorite

Re: +++ Last FM

ok Duncan, help me out here.

I have professed not to be into electronica, I think about the closest I ever came was crystal method.

how is this music best enjoyed, I can't seem to kind of bop through it at work, not that it doesn't sound cool, I just tend to say...oooh thats a neat sound...not, wow cool riff, its stuck in my head and now I need to beat myself with a mallet to get it out.

Re: +++ Last FM

It probably just isn't your thing.

I listen to a lot of ambient electronic and trip hop and I enjoy it almost because there isn't riffs and obvious melodies. I wouldn't want to get into instructions for listening, but for me, when I am working (designing on a computer) I like trippy stuff, I also like it when I have headphones on at home and getting into a sort of trance. I don't listen to my own music that way, it is way too distracting when I am hearing something that I created. Stuff I really love like Aphex Twin, Theivery Corp., Zero 7, Venus Hum, DJ Shadow, Amon Tobin, Unkle, Sigur Ros are perfect soundtracks to my mood sometimes. I like the big beat stuff that Propellerheads and others do also, but I don't produce much like that.

That said, my stuff isn't even close in comparison to those artists so you may not know how to listen to it because it's not as good. If you have a chance check out some of those bands I mentioned.

Re: +++ Last FM

I don't think its a matter of the quality, I think certain music lends itself to different settings, like listening to Mazzy Starr around 2am while driving on a long straight highway...not so good :)

I have always associated this kind of music with Raves and stuff, so I was just wondering if there was a preferred setting. I know I used to listen to Crystal Method when I was studying in college because it would keep me awake, but not really grab my focus away. The copious amounts of Mountain Dew didn't hurt.

Re: +++ Last FM

I don't really see this stuff as dance music, but I don't really know what kind of music it is anyway. If people can dance to it, that's cool with me. I don't want to overthink the why and what with this music, I just like making it.

thanks for giving it a shot though Keith, you'll be dumping your guitars for some analog synths in no time.

Re: +++ Last FM

I really do enjoy screwing around with the mini-korg at GC :)

Re: +++ Last FM

I like those miniKorgs, I had one for a short time but ended up getting a MS2000b instead. I also have a Novation k-station that is pretty fun. Really though, Reason is my favorite synth these days.
