i was always fascinated by

i was always fascinated by the name pod cast.  i thought it was some cool online broadcast.

then i realized its just a long mp3.  i dont get it.

it is a mp3 that is enclosed

it is a mp3 that is enclosed in xml that you can subscribe too. The benefit of this is that once you are subscribed, any time that a new mp3/podcast is posted you are updated. In itunes this happens seamlessly. It downloads as many of these as you are subscribed to and they just appear when they are new. If you are automatically syncing a player it can be even cooler as your device is updated with the new content when you sync.

Chris, I know you use Google Reader for rss feeds, think of a podcast as the same thing but with video or audio.
