The weather has been so nice this week, I got to thinking about hiking. Did you know there is a trail that goes 90 miles through Worcester County from Rhode Island to New Hampshire? It's called the Midstate Trail, and I recommend it. I posted a trail diary a couple years ago, along with a printable guide (PDF) that I hope some will find useful.
It's published under a Creative Commons license, so you can use it for your own purposes without asking. (Some of the layout is not that great, because this morning I noticed the PDF was corrupted and remade it without the original fonts. Maybe I'll clean it up later this month.)
Re: Hiking the Massachusetts Midstate Trail
I have always wanted to hike the midstate trail from beginning to end. How long did it take you to do it and what kind of pace were you moving at?
worst to first
Re: Hiking the Massachusetts Midstate Trail
It took 5 days. One of the days I only hiked a couple miles, another almost 40. (The trail diary goes into more info.) This crazy schedule was because of the lack of camping along the way. This was 3 years ago, so things may have changed since then. My little pamphlet goes into more details about the logistics, and I would definitely buy the official guide to get a sense of current conditions. (Feedback in 2006 leads me to believe that my pamphlet was accurate as of then, but I haven't heard any news for a couple years now.)
The Wikipedia page for the trail has some nonsense about "surprisingly rugged and scenic for Central Mass," which it is not, but it's still a fun hike if you can take a long weekend.

Nice, I'm working on a hiking promotion at work for next month, I'll be sure to include some of this info!
Re: Hiking the Massachusetts Midstate Trail
I've done this. Good ol yellow triangles. Still have yet to make it to the Tri state marker
Re: Hiking the Massachusetts Midstate Trail
Someone told me there's a trail up by the Blackstone Madness shopping center. Is that the Mid State Trail too? Becka got me a really nice bike for my birthday and I'm anxious to get out there and brave the elements!
Re: Hiking the Massachusetts Midstate Trail
Haha, I didn't know that place was called Blackstone Madness until now. Learn something new everyday.
