I am bummed that one of the towers just barely blocks me from seeing them from my apartment. Anyone ever watch them from downtown? I was thinking from the overpass over Grafton St behind Union Station but I don't know if 290 is in the way right there. Anyone else making a point to watch them tonight?
Re: Good vantage point to watch fireworks from downtown?
I will bring things to Ralph's Friday that will require a match.
Re: Good vantage point to watch fireworks from downtown?
I know we give each other shit and all but I would hate to see you light your drums on fire.
Re: Good vantage point to watch fireworks from downtown?
Unless of course you light them on fire with the fury of rock!!!!!!

Re: Good vantage point to watch fireworks from downtown?
I can see them from my deck. We live off Plantation Street. For the past 2 years I've just had friends and family come over to see them. Some of the trees get in the way but you can see them and hear them..
Re: Good vantage point to watch fireworks from downtown?
in fact I will.
For safety reasons, while I am rocking, I will have these items set up outside. As the rock is at is its most rocking, things will happen outside. This will signal the Summer Nationals to drive over to Ralph's and enjoy our last song. They will then race out of the parking lot, leaving a cloud of burnt tire smoke and rock and roll behind them.
god bless america.
I found this picture from the future and I will share it here.

Re: Good vantage point to watch fireworks from downtown?
In the past I've gone to Greenhill Golf Course.. if you sit just right, the fireworks reflect off of the pond.
If anyone goes though, I would reccomend gettign there early, bringing a cooler and park going down the hill, preferably at the 290 bridge.
oh, and as always: bugspray... mosquitos will ruin any good time.
Life's short. Touch Art.
Re: Good vantage point to watch fireworks from downtown?
There's a parking garage at the DCU on Gold Star. From the roof there you can see 'em pretty good.
Re: Good vantage point to watch fireworks from downtown?
I live very close to the intersection of Route 9 and Plantation, I can see them from my porch, and when my friends come over, they don't get stuck in traffic. My whole "hood has guests and even when i have people come over, i suggest they do so well before sunown.
Are they tonite or tomorrow??

Re: Good vantage point to watch fireworks from downtown?
A bunch of us are going to Vincent's to watch them. Not going till 8:30 so this might present a parking issue but whatever, its a holiday!
Re: Good vantage point to watch fireworks from downtown?
I was excited by this picture until I realized this wasn't the chili cook-off thread.
Re: Good vantage point to watch fireworks from downtown?
At around 9pm I will be in the parking lot behind the library getting my Worcester on. I may or may not have a sixer with me.
I may or may not have a pick up truck with painted statues of Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons in the back with me.
Re: Good vantage point to watch fireworks from downtown?
I happened to be on the other side of the library (right by the Y) when the show began--a very good spot as well.
Re: Good vantage point to watch fireworks from downtown?
NEil and I watched them from our roof. Awesome view without having to deal with people. being on the top of a 6 story building we acutally watched the fireworks in like 4 towns last night.... Next year charging admission.
Re: Good vantage point to watch fireworks from downtown?
The old swaws on grafton st would have been perfect.
Re: Good vantage point to watch fireworks from downtown?
I ended up walking over to the old amtrak station off of Shrewsbury St. Really really great. It was like the fireworks were being shot right at me, if that makes sense.
There were people there but the lot wasn't packed. To add to the atmosphere someone was blasting what sounded like some sort of Bee Gee's greatest hits record from their van which made it a little hilarious and kind of perfect. A bum tried to bash forearms with me ala bash brothers era Oakland A's. Lots of people out walking around, lot's of vibrancy. Pretty awesome.
Last night I went to a friends BBQ in Amesbury. The house backs up to a giant old plot of farm land that was bought by the town to keep the land public when the farmer sold. The town shoots their fireworks off right over this land. The land is also surrounded by other homes that were having other 4th of July BBQ's. Most of these homes had their own fireworks. You could also see the fireworks shows of the neighboring towns from this vantage point. The farm land sits in a valley too so all of the sounds from the fireworks were echoing off the walls of the valley and kind of swirling around the land. Overall probably in the top 5 fireworks experiences of my life.
