We're going to start including a song about Worcester each week on the audio version of the 508 podcast. I was just listening to an appropriate punk song about the city this morning, and of course there's that old "It's the right time for Worcester" jingle. Anyone have other suggestions?
Re: Worcester songs?
the "Turd Thursday" Songwriter's Challenge this month is the Turtleboy song. Stop in on 6/17 and listen (record) any one of the fine tunes being presented by some of Worcester's song writing community.

Re: Worcester songs?
Matt Fox has some excellent tunes about Worcester. I think he's got a new album out, which may have a tune or two that would suit your needs...
Re: Worcester songs?
Hat on, Drinking Wine has a few songs that, while not including Worcester in the title, or necessarily about Worcester, have lots of descriptions of Worcester.

Huck's got Postcard and Milltown Girl, both are about Worcester in some way.
Re: Worcester songs?
Can anyone can their hands on a video or a copy of the theme song for the Worcester 250 birthday party that was held in (around 1972)? It was very lame for that groovy era.
Also check the entire "Les Harvey" catalog.
"who put the bop in the bop sha bop sha bop?"

Re: Worcester songs?
If you search Worcester Hip Hop on Myspace there's a ton of songs with"Wortown" and "7 Hills" in the title. These were the prototypes:
"Beantown-Wortown" By Mingo featuring Kaz (Produced by Kaz Supernova) was released on Mingo's "My Ride" EP in 1999. The song as well as the EP got props in The Source Magazine in 99.
"Wortown" By Massapeal - K Slaughter, Dibbs The Prophet, C.O.D, and L Tha Head Toucha (produced by Diamond T aka Tone Capone) This track was released in 2003 on L The Head Toucha's "Destined For Greatness" LP.
Wortown by Wortonics
* These tracks were both recorded in 1998.
"Seven Hills Symphony (Remix)" Featuring , Ivan Drago, E The Real, Arablak, Paul Mighty, Why-O, Mighty Joe, Nytmare, Cypher and Kaz Supernova - Produced by Diamond T (aka Tone Capone) I believe this was recorded in 2002. The Original "Seven Hills Symphony" appeared on the 2002 Wortown Hip-Hop compilation “The Revolution Begins Now … Volume One: The 7 Hill Xperience”
Seven Hills Symphony (remix) by Wortonics
Gotta dig up the track and credits for the original Joint.
Re: Worcester songs?
That "Beantown-Wortown" was the sheeeit in 99. Still a killer beat. Thanks for bringing me back!

Not ABOUT Worcester, but this video definitely relates. Can't overlook the quality of the talent involved in all aspects:

Re: Worcester songs?
I don't know why this didn't occur to me earlier, but Martin Sextion's got a tune called "Diner," on the Black Sheep CD, that alludes to the Worcester Lunch Car Co., and mentions the city.
Re: Worcester songs?
I read in the ICT that Roger Salloom has a song called "Gotta Get Outta Worcester"

Elvis Costello, from Sulphur to Sugarcane:
It's not very far from Sulphur to Sugarcane
Up in Syracuse
I was falsely accused
But I'm not here to hurt you
I'm here to steal your virtue
Down in Bridgeport
The women will kill you for sport
But in Worcester, Massachusetts
They love my sauce.

This might have been neat: "It was at Worcester Academy that Cole [Porter] started composing songs with lyrics, and for graduation he wrote the Class of 1909 song. It was one of fours songs he recalled composing at the Academy. Unfortunately, none of them survive."
