I love this tune. What a great, jazzy chord progression, too. Whenever my cover band gets asked to play this, I can't help but ham up the british accent and emote the sad tale of ol' Tom.
The best part is that blowout low note at the end of the solo. I have no idea what it is.

Strange, I actually like Bowie's music a lot......but always hated Major Tom.....did not even like Peter Schilling's version.
.....I dunno, guess I was more of a Young Americans, Fame, and Modern Love kinda guy.
