So I know some of the people on this website work in the restaurant industry so I just was throwing this question out there for my own knowledge:
I have an Open Table account and have used it several times, both on the PC and on my Iphone.
However, for the 111 chop house, when I have tried to go through Open Table to book my reservation for any saturday at 7pm....it said the time was not available....and that was for 4 Saturdays in a row.
So I took a chance and just called up 111 direclly and they have an opening no problem at all, for this saturday at 7pm.
Is open table not accurate for some restaurants, or is there a limited amount of seating that can be booked through open table only, but other seating can be still be available if you call the restaurant directly?

Is Dorsia listed on Open Table? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8n2GB7W3AHs
Re: Question about "OPEN TABLE"
each restaurant has to set parameters for the time slots so they do not get over booked. 111 must have that time slot blocked out online. Probably because its peak dinner rush for weekend nights. did you try 6:30 or 7:45?

Re: Question about "OPEN TABLE"
I did, it said there was no availability at all for 2 hours in either direction at 7PM for four weeks in a row at 111..when I tried doing it through Open Table.
So, I took a chance and just called 111 directly and they had table at 7pm for this coming Saturday night.
Weird, and made me somewhat discount the convenience/accuracy of open table.
So, i went to the website for open table, and they have an FAQ that sort of addresses the very question:
Question
Why did your site say no tables were available, but when I called the restaurant, I got one?
Answer
As a general rule, the availability you see on OpenTable.com reflects the actual availability in the restaurant's computerized reservation book at the time of your search. On occasion the reservationist may make an exception based on special circumstances. For example, popular restaurants often offer a limited number of seating times, such as 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. When a restaurant isn't busy, a reservationist may decide to accommodate a reservation between seatings. Also, some reservation requests, such as those with larger party sizes, do not match the standard table layout and associated reservation slots at a restaurant. However, a reservationist may be able to accommodate those requests by reconfiguring or combining tables.
Re: Question about "OPEN TABLE"
so the moral of the story is if you try open table first, and cant get a table on the day and time you want, you might just want to call the restaurant to see if they have a table for you directly......simple as that I guess.
Re: Question about "OPEN TABLE"
here's what i wanna know...what kind of a nerd eats dinner at 7 on a saturday night? ;)
Re: Question about "OPEN TABLE"
They do this at Via and Sole too... But you can reserve a table for tomorrow @ 7 just not today @ 7. Makes no sense to me if you can just call and reserve a table whenever you want. I use otable all the time and have avoided this place because of this...
Re: Question about "OPEN TABLE"
All three restaurants limit or even prohibit reservations for two between the hours of 6-8 on Saturdays. Tables of two can tend to camp and monopolize space. It also limits the number of 4-tops now available to the house. The optimal reservation size for a Sat. is 4-6 people. Larger parties arrive in dribs and drabs and leave in the same way and, again monopolize table space. Unless you are a regular, I mean each and every Saturday, unless there are cancellations, it's not gonna happen. Bottom line, Saturdays are rarely pleasurable dining experiences for two on Saturdays. Service is rushed, its noisy and they can't get you out the door fast enough.
Re: Question about "OPEN TABLE"
yeah i hear that, sat at 7pm is the craziest time...a monday night is always a better choice...but, the kinda nerd who has dinner out at Saturday night at 7pm is the same kinda nerd whose wife works 3-11pm during the week. I hate those nerds.
