Michael Thibodeau from the Bee's Knees
Scott RIcciuti from Huck.
We will start at 9pm. We will have some guests. We will drink some beer.
All will be well.
Hat On, Drinking Wine will play in the Newton Square Summer Concert Series on Tuesday, August 19th from 6:30-8:00 pm. At these events they sell pizza, soda and water, and ice cream--all of the proceeds go to support the ongoing maintenance of Newton Hill. In the meantime, what you put in your red Solo cup is of course entirely your business.
We have a drummer now, and I play the tin whistle on a song or two, and Matt may bring his harmonica, and this event will probably feature the Leslie Speaker discussed in an earlier thread.
So, in other words, it will be the event of the summer. Don't miss it.

MISSION
The mission of Genesis Club is to assist individuals with a mental illness to attain employment, housing and friendships.
The Genesis Club, established in 1988, promotes the partnership model of psychiatric rehabilitation (the Clubhouse). This partnership is formed when individuals, correctly identified as members, play a critical role in the overall operation and governance of the Genesis Club. Last year, 2005, the Genesis Club provided the following services to over 500 members:
VOCATIONAL TRAINING in which staff and members work side by side to complete the daily operations of the club.
AN EMPLOYMENT COMPONENT that provides Genesis Members the opportunity to work in real jobs in the Worcester area.
HOUSING that provides residential support to members living in their own apartments.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES that operate evenings, weekends and on all holidays.
EDUCATION that teaches computer skills, high school equivalency and supports college level education.
A WELLNESS INITIATIVE that provides exercise, fitness and diet.
AN ART COMMITTEE that sponsors and displays the work of Genesis artists.
A YOUNG ADULT team that is developing and planning future events.
A PEER SUPPORT PROJECT that provides outreach services to those in the hospital and at home.
A COMMUNITY that provides friendships, hope and dignity.
At Genesis Club, it is the norm to find members making clubhouse policy decisions, working for major local businesses, living in their own apartments and contributing to local, state, and national agenda's for the mentally ill.
The club has completed four successful reviews by the International Center for Clubhouse Development resulting in Certifications to 2007. The Genesis Club has also completed a site visit from the U.S. Center for Mental Health (1995) with the recommendation that the Genesis Club be used as a National Model. In 1999 Genesis Club participated in the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health Award to a program making a major breakthrough in research and a 1999 U.S. Congressional Recognition for outstanding service to those with mental illness.
The Genesis Club members have the choice of work, education, social and housing opportunities.
The Genesis Club is an International Training Center.
The Genesis Club is a Certified Clubhouse and a founding member of the International Center for Clubhouse Development and the Massachusetts Clubhouse Coalition.

This Saturday, August 30th, SFATPAC hits Ralph's again... for the first time in a long time. We're relatively obscure in the Worcester scene; most of our shows at Ralph's, the Vernon, or Tammany Hall have been promoted mainly by word of mouth, myspace and the like. This is kind of a last minute show; it's also my birthday that night. If you've never heard us before, you should check us out.
The band is comprised of myself, the Vallaincourt brothers, and Tom Spears on drums. We've been described as having an "early seventies Mothers of Invention" sort of sound.
The recordings on our myspace are kinda low-quality practice takes, but if you want to give it a listen:
www.myspace.com/skatflatulenceandtheplasticanimalcramps
Also appearing that night are Dead Mom the Dog (formerly "the Foundation"), Greg McKillop (of the bands Nemes, I Hate Zen <3, Kinma Awakening), and No Town, the Justin Marra Trio.
Come and celebrate all things German at Nick's on Wednesday night from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm, where you will also be able to hear the sounds of Hat On, Drinking Wine. We play original, rootsy music, as well as covers from a variety of cool bands and artists--Wilco, Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt, Dylan, the Pogues, the Decemberists, the Jayhawks, Gram Parsons, and a few others.
This Wednesday we'll be warming up for our debut at Tammany Hall this Saturday evening at 10:00 pm--about which I'll post more shortly.
Listen to some tunes and learn more about the band at:
Tonight will be my last night DJing karaoke for September. Holmes will be taking over for the rest of the month, but I'll be back in October!
As such, come down tonight and send me out with a bang.

It was one year ago that Bobby Gibbs decided to start a poetry reading in the Shiproom of the Hotel Vernon... this Thursday will be a celebratory poetry event, with featured poet Jen Mahon following the open mic. There will be free food, dollar drafts (as always), and all the poetry you could rightfully ask for. The hat will be passed at some point to pay the feature.
If you haven't been drinking out on the patio at The Dive you really need to get down there soon before the weather starts sucking.
Scott Ricciuti, Michael Thibodeau and myself will be entertaining the shit out you this Thursday September 4. We start around 8:30 and we go all night long.
Oh and in addition to our smiling singing faces you have the amazing beer selection, the awesome environment and a staff that is righteous.

The photography of Jax Andersen has adorned the walls of the Q Cafe on Chandler St. in Worcester (362 Chandler, corner of Chandler and Lovell) for the past month or so, and the art will come down this Saturday early in the evening.
This week will be your last chance to check out her stunningly beautiful digital photographs, which focus mainly on nature, especially the bizarre. Her current show at the Q is comprised of staggeringly beautiful takes of different flowers, and would accent and compliment any home nicely. They're reasonably priced as well, ranging from $5 to $40. So come down anytime this week to check it out!
Next month's artist will be the lovely and talented Jessica Roy!

We've been tightening up our sound and set every Wednesday at Nick's, and we're ready to tap into America . . . no, wait, I mean Tammany Hall. We will be lubricating for an hour or two before the show at the Armsby Abbey.
So, in short--dinner and craft beers at the Abbey, followed by live music at Tammany. An evening gets no better than this. Come join us.
