I use craigslist all day every day. It's free so I can't see how it can hurt to try it.
I'd recommend posting here too, of course. This site ranks very highly in all the major search engines so your post will be seen for sure. For example, try searching "new beck sucks", you'll see the post you made on this site right up there in the top 5.
A bulletin on myspace and some facebook posts might help you as well.

Things I've gotten on CL for free all in very good condition:
Matching glass top stove and overhead microwave/fan
Huge side by side fridge with working ice maker
Older delta contractor table saw
DeWalt 1/2" drill
I've also gotten rid of a bunch of stuff too. I check it out daily (OK 3x a day).

I got my 91 Corolla off Craig's list for $350.00 last August. The purchase is known as one of the greatest strokes of luck anyone has ever witnessed.

Petty much my entire band was assembled through CL postings. I've also had luck in getting an apartment when my wife and I posted an ad in the "Housing Wanted" section. My wife has sold some unwanted items through the site and also given stuff away in the "Free" section.
About the only luck I haven't had is in the "Jobs" section, but then again I believe that if a company is not willing to pay to post an ad (versus using Monster.com, Dice.com, etc) then most likely they aren't willing to pay you what you're worth. And the same goes for the "Personals" section!

its been real hit or miss for me...I have responded to a couple musicians wanted ads, with no response (take the hint right?), also tried to buy some stuff...some people never responded! I also scored some great deals on CL...but no luck picking up students ;)
