wow.

pretty tight!! I dont think I've gotten into or been a fan of Wilco until now. Was a little fan of Uncle Tupelo, but Wilco's double disc album that I have I cant drive while listening to it for the fear of falling asleep behind the wheel. gonna have to give it another try I gues.

Re: Wilco on SNL

I really want to like them...I respect them, the same way I respect Springsteen or U2; I appreciate what they do but not enough to go out and buy their records.

I did download "Impossible Germany" & "What Light" off their new disc. Good stuff. It's mellower than I expected, sounds different from the tracks I've heard off of "Yankee Foxtrot".

Is there an essential Wilco album?

I second the Preacher! Both are great albums.

Anything after AM is better than most work by other artists.

Preacher, I think the double-disc snoozer Zippy means is "Being There," which I worship.

Summerteeth, Being There, Yankee Hotel, Ghost, and Kicking Television are first rate. I'd put Sky Blue Sky a tier beneath.

Kicking Television gives a career overview in hi-fi live sound with a tight current lineup. "Via Chicago" on that disc is epic.

Dozens of top-notch live bootlegs are available online, too.
