Smart people figure out how to do cool stuff.

I'm not sure what to say in the SUBJECT of this post, and I know this is wicked old news, but I just watched this demo clip from NYU that demonstrates new technology for physically interacting with a touch screen. Those of you with Iphones and other cutting-edge devices are no stranger to this, but I still think it's pretty incredible.

This sort of technology will make the Mouse feel like you've got your hands tied behind your back and you're using your nose to navigate your computer.

Apparently, Microsoft is working on this sort of technology as well:

(Is it just me, or does the Microsoft Surface graphic look just like Cocteau Twins' Heaven or Las Vegas album cover/)

That's cool. There are some youtube videos featuring engineering projects from a leading university (Cornell, I think) that are pretty cool. One was a chair that uses robotics to assemble and disassemble itself.

One of the people on the noiseboard helped design the optics for that M$ table. Kind of neat.
