Late May 1968. The Beatles have returned from India where they meditated with the Mararishi, enjoyed a few weeks off, and while they have this downtime they individually wrote tons of songs. The 4 Beatles, wives and girlfriends all convene at George’s Estate in Esher named Kinfauns to lay down demos of songs that they wrote in India. Out of the demos (nicknamed the “Kinfauns Demos”) are nearly all the songs that will appear on the “White Album” in November. There are a few that were not and these are the ones we have here.
Two of the five “Junk” and “Not Guilty” appeared on the “Anthology” series (albeit “Not Guilty” was a truncated studio version). That leaves us with these three.
“Sour Milk Sea” was written by George and given to friend Jackie Lomax to record for the Harrison produced album “Is This What You Want?”
Lennon’s “On The Road To Rishikesh” would later morph into the classic “Jealous Guy”.
George’s “Circles” is curious in the fact that it is unknown outside of this session.
The sound quality is not as super as the ones on “Anthology” but please look beyond that in the scope of hearing some fascinating stuff. The Beatles seem to be having a great time during this informal session and may be the last time they were so upbeat with recording together.
Re: Rare Beatles music thread #5
Thanks, Louie. I love these.
Have a great trip.

Thanks. The White Album is my favorite Beatles album! Diverse, dark, and seeming to emanate from strange places in their souls.

That is called hatred for you band. It causes you to write from a strange place.
