First off, welcome all you new people and thank you all you old people. Traffic on the site is been at an all time high. We aren't going to compete with MySpace any time soon but we have never had more people coming to the site. Thank you.
new to the site is a mobile version of the site. This version of the site is read only so you wont be able to login and post yet but if you are on your phone and you need to see if anyone replied to your scathing review of a local album or you want to quickly check the homepage or read a patchbay article, this is a easy way to do it. From your mobile browser go to http://volcanoboy.mofuse.mobi/ If you visit it on your regular browser you will get a cute simulation of what it will look like on your phone.
If you hate typing in your phone, look over there on the left hand column and you can enter your phone number and we will text message you the link.
also new on the site is a section called Videos as you can imagine, in this section are videos. I basically keep my eyes peeled for interesting Worcester related clips on YouTube and add them to a playlist that fill this section. If you have any videos you think should be up there I would be happy to add them.
In February Bobby Fischer died. Although he was a scumbag of a human being, he was incredible at chess. I have always admired his playing and when I was learning to play, his book on chess taught me a lot. Taught me I suck at chess but that's another story. So because of his death I thought it might be cool to have chess on the site. So now, as long as you are registered (you are registered right?) you can play chess with other VB members.
Over the next couple months we are looking into some drastic new ways to improve the performance of the site. Stay tuned.
Thanks,
Duncan
Re: couple new VB things
Are you trying to lure Howard Stern to this site?
Re: couple new VB things
That would be hysterical but no, I really do admire Bobby Fischer. When I was really getting into chess and playing every day, that movie Searching For Bobby Fischer came out (1993). Although it really wasn't about Bobby Fischer, it did prompt me to become interested in him. I picked up a chess book of his and read it and tried like hell to understand it.

This video kind of makes me miss the cold war. Other than the possibility of a nuclear holocaust, there was a lot of fun stuff going on. It really made everything more exciting when we had an enemy, especially at the olympics. It seems like since the fall of the Soviet Union no one really pays too much attention to the olympics. This video shows how we even followed Chess on a mainstream level. We need a another good rival. Maybe we can challenge the Taliban to a vollyball game something.
