Beatles rare music thread #3

One of the real tragedies of the Anthology series is that a bunch of songs were edited.  I'm thinking "Not Guilty", "How Do You Do It", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and others.  But this one is a mystery.  "You Know My Name, Look Up My Number" has always been one of my secret favorite Beatles songs so I was psyched when I head that they would be releasing the original full lenth version.  When I got Anthology 3 in my hands I was disappointed to hear that yes, we had some new material on "You Know....." but other parts in the song that we've known for over 30 years were edited out AND they faded the song!!!  WTF!

So what we have this time is the complete version made by some enterprising soul who edited the single and Anthology versions together.

I can't explain why, but I think that this is my least favorite Beatles' song. Of course that doesn't mean that anyone else thinks that, just me. :)

Was the full-length version on that Beatles Rarities record from long long ago? That was where I first heard "Penny Lane" with the horn tag at the end of the song, which made a great song even greater in my eyes (ears).

Nope, booth Rarities and Anthology contained edited versions.  The Rarities version was the original b-side to "Let It Be".

Stay tuned next week for something better and I promise it won't be any "Mr. Moonlight" outtakes.

Thanks, Louie. Please, no Mr. Moonlight outtakes. That is my least favorite Beatles song.
