Re: Black Moth Super Rainbow

I saw them open for Aesop Rock at The Living Room in Providence about a year ago and I thought they were horrid.

Certainly not a good opener for a hip hop crowd, experimental can be good, except when your experiment fails.

Not a fan.

Re: Black Moth Super Rainbow

Ok, well that's too bad, I have no impression of them live, I just thought these tracks were pure summer ear candy....what did you think of the tracks I linked from their myspace? I agree tho, I think that'd be a terrible pairing, and I like Aesop alot too...

btw, if anyone does like what they hear, on their main website you can grab 8 tunes, gratis.

Egg on my face.

Gabe just refreshed my memory and it was actually Octopus Project that I saw open for Aesop.

I stand corrected!

Oh no!

I love the Octopus Project too. Especially live. I've seen them 3 or 4 times now.

Pretty much one of my favorite songs ever. Music is Happiness by The Octopus Project.

Re: Black Moth Super Rainbow

Thanks for this post. Just listened to both these bands (BMSR and OP) and loved elements of both. Reminds me of the Elephant Six collective, if not in style, but certainly in spirit.

Anytime...I just am loving this stuff, late to the bus or not....

While I'm at it, for real fun listen and great driving music, I must strongly suggest Mocean Worker's latest disc "Cinco de MoWo"....holy damn, an eclectic mixmash of big band / jazz / big beat that is so worth repeated listen.

All I have by BMSR is Dandelion Gum, which I really like. Is there another album by them I should check out?

Re: Black Moth Super Rainbow

Doug if you like Dandelion Gum and you like the video I posted check out The House of Apples and Eyeballs which is a collaboration between the two bands. I am still warming up to it, but I like everything I have heard so far.
